Through the months of October and November, the McKenzie Sharing Committee is offering several opportunities to help the children in need at our sister school, Carman-Buckner in Waukegan. While the school is only 25 miles away, 90% of the attending families live below the poverty line.
Here are the ways that you can help:
Share the Feast
Help put food on the table for the holidays by purchasing grocery dollars to be distributed to the families in need at Carmen Buckner. Drop off checks in increments of $25 in the Sharing mailbox (checks made out to McKenzie PTA) or purchase Grocery Dollars for Share the Feast online. November 14th-29th.
Share the Joy
Make the holidays bright by purchasing holiday gifts for the children at Carman-Buckner. Come pick up a child’s wish list at school (November 14th-16th) and include your child in the process of choosing a gift for a child less fortunate. Wrapped gifts will be returned after Thanksgiving break, November 29th -30th. You are also welcome to join us in the delivering of the gifts to Carman-Buckner School on Saturday, December 3rd.
Share the Warmth
Starting the week of 10/24, there will be collection boxes in the lobby for new hats and mittens. Collection will end on Monday, November 29th.
