2nd Grade Bike Safety Day is an annual district-wide event and all McKenzie second graders will be participating on Monday, May 22nd.
On Bike Safety Day, all second graders will bring their bikes, properly-fitting helmets and bike locks to school and for one 30-minute period, each class learns the basics of bicycle safety and has the opportunity to ride through a safety course on the blacktop to practice what they’ve just learned.
Children must have bikes (scooters and training wheels are fine) and helmets to participate in the safety course portion of the event.
On Monday, May 22nd, please have children park their bikes at or near the bike rack with their teacher’s name. Bike locks should be left on the bikes but not locked until after the event. Parent volunteers will supervise the bike racks throughout the morning. Children will lock their bikes once they have completed their bike safety session.
Parent volunteers are needed to assist with 2nd Grade Bike Safety Day. Click here to volunteer.
