McKenzie fourth graders were treated to a presentation and hands-on activities by School & Community Assistance for Recycling and Composting Education (SCARCE) on October 25.
On October 10 and 11, the fourth graders from McKenzie School learned about how the citizens of Wilmette and Glenview get their water after it is cleaned at the Wilmette Water Filtration Plant. They learned about the chemical treatment process that the water from Lake Michigan goes through and even looked around a lab that tests PH and other levels. They also got a look at the control room. This iGNITE-sponsored field trip supports the fourth grade’s science curriculum. Specifically, it focuses on the students’ study of the water cycle and its effect on the earth’s systems.
