Fine Arts is a parent-led program and brings curriculum-related art courses into all the classrooms 2-3 times each year. The committee has developed presentations about different artists, along with an art project. Each presentation lasts about an hour. Presentations can be scheduled well ahead of time and there is little advance preparation necessary.
General Instructions
Schedule project with teacher & other classroom volunteers.(1-2 months before project)
Assign a person to coordinate the schedule of the project. Contact your teacher (early) in each project period to discuss scheduling. Don’t wait until the last weeks. Each project has been designed to support and enrich the curriculum, so please ask your teacher to keep that in mind when choosing dates. Supplies will be available during the weeks indicated, but if your teacher would like to schedule your project at another time, just let us know and materials will be made available. You will need about an hour for each project.
We maintain a master calendar, available here. It is there to help prevent conflicts over supplies and visuals – please check it! Once you have scheduled your project, please e-mail us with the information and it will be posted on the calendar.
Check supplies, prepare materials and review presentation. (One week before project)
Someone in your group needs to check the Fine Arts room several days before your project to make sure supplies and visuals are available. Please mindful of the calendar. It is likely others are inventorying and doing projects at the same time. If something is missing or you think something might be missing after a classroom ahead of you, let us know. We’re here to replenish supplies, but we can not do it on short notice.
Messy Project Notice (1-2 days before project) Email or print flyer letting classroom parents know the children will be doing a Fine Arts project that involves, paint, paper mache or clay so they can dress accordingly.
Present the project to the classroom and complete art activity. (Prep & Project)
A presentation volunteer should sign out one of the project folders several days ahead of time to review the details of the project and activity. We have limited copies of these folders, so please return the folder after your classroom has completed the activity.
Cleanup and update for next group. (After project)
After your project is done, please return all supplies and visuals neatly to the Fine Arts room for the next group to use. If you have depleted supplies during your activity, please let the FA chairs know so they can resupply.
