The Kindergartners explored magnetism in hands-on learning centers in the Makery with a scientist from High Touch High Tech.
Students learned about magnets that attract and magnets that repulse as they learned how to change the direction on a compass with their bar magnet. Students explored different magnetic surfaces in the Makery with large horseshoe magnets. Kindergarteners had to electrically charge their magnet to pick up various objects such as paper clips. They were amazed by how many they could pick up at once! Students used a wand magnet with a magnetic ball to use on a paper maze. The students were shocked when the magnets would work through the paper! The program was a great way to continue learning about rocks with hands-on opportunities.
