The Details:
What is Orff Ensemble?
Orff Ensemble is named after Carl Orff, the composer and educator who introduced child-friendly xylophones, movement, and recorders into the elementary music classroom. Orff Ensemble is a place where 4th grade students will create original performances using movement, singing, xylophones, and drums.
When will Orff Ensemble meet?
3:15-4:30 on Thursdays after school
Where will they meet?
Students will walk to the music classroom after the bell rings on Thursdays
How does dismissal work?
Students that are walkers or bike riders will be dismissed from the exit closest to the music door that leads to the blacktop. Important: after the students leave the building, they are responsible for themselves. There won’t be crossing guards at that time.
Students that are car riders will be picked up at the front of the school
How much does Orff Ensemble cost?
Cost calculation is: $3 per rehearsal and $10 for a shirt for the concert:
Fall semester only (September-December) is $40
Spring semester only (January-May) is $55
Full year enrollment (September-May) is $85
Other important information:
If possible, please pack a snack for your child on Orff rehearsal days. There will be an allotted time for them to eat it before we begin rehearsing.
The limit of children admitted to Orff Ensemble per semester is 30. If more than 30 children sign up, I will be randomly drawing names of children who signed up for the whole-year option to instead only be involved for a semester (you would get a refund for the amount of time lost if this happens to you). It’s important we limit the group to 30 so every child can play an instrument and to avoid overcrowding.
